Not everything is as it seems in Jon Knautz’ (The Shrine) new horror The Cleaning Lady. We’re getting our first taste of this tale of obsession with the new trailer drop ahead of its June 4th VOD release.
As a means to distract herself from an affair, a love-addicted woman befriends a cleaning lady, badly scarred by burns. She soon learns, these scars run deeper than the surface.
Our love-addicted woman is Alice (Alexis Kendra), who is also the co-writer of the film. The cleaning lady she hires is Shelly (Rachel Alig). Just from the bits in the trailer, I gather Michael (Stelio Savante) is the man that Alice was having an affair with. There’s an interesting aspect as well that Alice wants to help this poor disfigured woman to get her mind of it, but there is an obsession there that runs deeper.
As stated above, Kendra co-wrote this film with director Jon Knautz. The two of them aren’t new to working together either. They co-wrote Goddess of Love, a short called Viper, as well as the short film The Cleaning Lady this film is expanding on. Even more interesting is that Kendra also played the role of Shelly in the short. The two of them aren’t new to the genre either. Kendra was in Hatchet II being credited as Alexis Peters as well as Big Ass Spider!. She also appeared in genre flicks Girl House and Goddess of Love, directed by Knautz.
Other cast members have also credits in the genre. Savante was in 2017’s Death House as Doctor Roos. Elizabeth Sandy appears as Helen, but she was also in the short of The Cleaning Lady as Diane. She also made an appearance in Goddess of Love. Young Shelly, Mykayla Sohn, previously starred in The Chosen from 2015 and Awaken from the same year.
After seeing this trailer, I’m definitely interesting in checking out The Cleaning Lady when it drops on VOD June 4th. What about you? What did you think of the trailer and the film itself? Let us know on Twitter, Reddit, and in the Horror Movie Fiend Club on Facebook!
