The annual Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights returns to the Hollywood and Orlando parks on September 14th. This time, however, Michael Myers returns with it. Literally! Universal announced that this year, guests will get to explore mazes based upon Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers! According to Halloween Horror Nights:

Fall victim to the silver screen’s most deplorable slasher with Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. Based on the cult-classic horror film franchise, Halloween, this new maze will truly have you on edge…of Michael Myer’s knife that is.

October 30, 1988, a seemingly comatose Michael Myers is being transferred back to Smith’s Grove Sanitarium. It has been a decade since his last killing spree in Haddonfield, but the townspeople know pure evil never sleeps. Michael awakens and slaughters the medical personnel transporting him, escaping into the night. Fortunately, Michael’s former psychiatrist, Dr. Loomis, knows exactly where he is heading; unfortunately for you, no one is safe from Michael Myers…

Further details were released via Halloween Horror Nights’ Twitter and other press releases. First, the maze will feature Michael Myers escaping Smith’s Grove Sanitarium. (NOTE: Myers actually escaped Ridgemont Federal Sanitarium en route to Smith’s Grove in the film, but I’ll let that go.) From there, park goers will find the masked killer at Penny’s Gas Station and Diner. Lastly, Myers will terrorize guests as he rampages through Haddonfield. Among the attention to detail, the whole experience will be set to Alan Howarth’s theatrical score of Halloween 4. Expect to see a Dr. Loomis cameo as well!

This announcement continues the pattern of Halloween films appearing at Halloween Horror Nights. Universal has already featured attractions based upon the original Halloween, Halloween II, and cameos from Halloween III: Season of the Witch. Fans of the franchise have certainly been spoiled this year. With David Gordon Green’s Halloween sequel releasing in October and it being the 40th anniversary of John Carpenter’s original, our cups overflow-eth.

Halloween Horror Nights runs on select nights from September 14th to November 3rd.
