BIG BABY Review: Meta Slasher Rips Its Axe-Wielding Villain From The Page To Real-Life [Panic Fest 2026]

Great news, slasher fans. Spider-One’s Big Baby has arrived. The fan favourite movie-within-a-movie from his debut Allegoria is now its own full-fledged film. The original concept was more of a video nasty horror, but the feature treatment takes that silly, shot-on-video 80s oddity and morphs it into a meta slasher that plays with the genre in some really clever ways.

Big Baby follows Adam (Brandon Scott), a screenwriter. He’s a bit of a big baby himself, actually. On one hand, his entire self-worth seems tied up into what the internet’s shittiest critics think of his work, but he also can’t take the smallest bit of constructive criticism from his girlfriend, played by Krsy Fox (who also produced and edited the movie). You might remember Krsy Fox from Terrifier 3, which is to say, this isn’t her first foray into dealing with axe-wielding maniacs 😱🪓

“buckle up if you have a hard time seeing people get axes to the throat…”

What’s really cool about Big Baby is that the slasher villain Adam is writing, the Big Baby (played by Adam Marcinowski), has made the leap from the page to the real world. Naturally, the only way to stop him, the only way to put an end to Big Baby and to prevent him from killing everybody Adam loves, is to finish the screenplay. Big Baby wants to have his massacre, and as Adam continues to write the screenplay, Big Baby continues his unrelenting murder spree. So buckle up if you have a hard time seeing people get axes to the throat!

The slasher template is something we’re all super familiar with by now. Personally, it’s a kind of comfort food scenario for me. I’m just as excited for a “good” slasher as a “bad” slasher. I think they’re all great, but Big Baby is much more of a meta slasher exploration than I had expected and something more than just a silly revenge story about a killer in a scary mask. And maybe this is just the Jason Takes Manhattan fan in me but- In a fun addition, we also see the character evolve as Adam “brings him to life”. We get to see the evolution of his character in real-time, from a scared summer camp boy to the 7-foot masked psychopath he eventually becomes.

Big Baby is clever and GORY!”

Whether you like seeing people get their heads cut off, or you just like seeing a crazy maniac whining in a weird baby mask while he runs around killing people, get ready to sink your teeth into Spider-One’s Big Baby. It’s clever, it’s gory, and it practically dares you to write a bad a review about it 😅
